School District Plans for 1% Sales Tax Revenue

Charleston Community Unit School District #1

                    1. Reduce district property tax levy by approximately .52 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

Approximately $1.4 million or 72% of sales tax revenue annually.

 

2. Maintain existing district facilities and/or fund future facility improvements.

Approximately $500,000 would be placed into the Operations & Maintenance Fund.

Examples: Charleston High School roof (over 50 years old)

Utilization of $50,000 Illinois "Maintenance Grants" which may be awarded by Illinois State Board of Education.

 

3. Replace $500,000 of General State Aid which is placed annually into the Operations & Maintenance Fund.

Up to $500,000 of General State Aid would be placed into the Education Fund.

 

Mattoon Community Unit School District #2

1. Reduce district property tax levy by approximately .52 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. 

Approximately $1.5 million annually.


2. Pay debt certificates for Mattoon High School renovations. 

Approximately $400,000 annually.

3. Maintain existing district facilities. 

Approximately $400,000 annually.  Examples: Include re-roofing old parts of the high school and middle school.


Oakland Community Unit School District #5

1. Reduce district property tax levy by approximately .41 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

Approximately $148,000 annually

                    2. Maintain existing district facilities and/or fund future facility improvements.
